Igor Nikolaev is a key Ukrainian expert in the sphere of turnaround and insolvency. Debt collection and asset recovery, bankruptcy and financial recovery of companies have been his field of research and practice since 2002.

As a legal scholar, Igor was involved in the formation of the national doctrine of enforcement proceedings and insolvency. The results of his research are presented in numerous scientific and practical publications, manuals for bailiffs, judges and entrepreneurs. 

As a legal counselor to the Center for Commercial Law, he provided advice to judges, and the Ministry of Justice. He is the author of legal opinions and proposals for changes in legislation for the Government, Parliament, International Monetary Found and World Bank Group,

Within the framework of the USAID Projects "Development of Commercial Law in Ukraine" and the US Government's Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Program "Reform of the Enforcement of Judgments and Notaries", he participated in the development of a number of legislative acts, including the Code of Ukraine on Bankruptcy Proceedings, Laws of Ukraine "On restoring the solvency of debtors or declaring them bankrupt", "On enforcement proceedings", "On bodies and persons carrying out the enforcement of court decisions and decisions of other bodies", "On state registration of legal entities, sole proprietorships and non-governmental organizations"," On the state registration of real rights to immovable property and their encumbrances ".

Igor's unique experience is recognized by state institutions and the professional community. From 2015 to 2019 he was a member of the Disciplinary Commission of Arbitration Trustees at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

His practice areas also include corporate law, white-collar crime, fraud investigations, misappropriation and theft of assets, money laundering, and tax evasion. He specializes in criminal proceedings.

He advises clients on restructuring agreements, project financing; anti-corruption policies and internal corporate investigations. 


As a lawyer, he has extensive experience in resolving disputes in pre-trial proceedings and arbitration, as well as complex litigation, including bankruptcy proceedings. He participated in a number of cases in the Supreme Court, which had an impact on the formation of case law.
